Editors Note: Local organizers of the Better Angels program has opened up their planned workshop, to be held in our Community House tomorrow, Jan 5, to the general public and specifically wanted Quakers to feel welcomed to attend. It’s very last minute, I know, but if interested, please contact Elizabeth Marcus (see below), to learn more about their work. – K. Lee
“Better Angels is a national citizens’ movement to reduce political polarization in the United States by bringing liberals and conservatives together to understand each other beyond stereotypes, forming red/blue community alliances, teaching practical skills for communicating across political differences, and making a strong public argument for depolarization.” (From their website, https://www.better-angels.org/)
Better Angels, a bipartisan citizen’s movement to unify our divided nation, is holding a workshop this Saturday, January 5th, at the Macomber Community House, from 10-12:30. We hope you will come.
The political divisions in our country have found their way into families and friendships where members do not happen to agree, and the current polarized public conversation doesn’t help. We find ourselves unable to discuss the most pressing issues of our times with anyone not on our side.
Please join us to learn skills for having respectful conversations across the divide that defuse the bitterness, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of the relationship.
