Dear Friends,
As the Coronavirus pandemic rapidly changes day to day, MA and RI declaring states of emergency and discovering people closer to home who are exposed and/or self quarantined, it seems wise for WMM to reconsider some of our activities to be sure we balance prudence and safety with Meeting needs.
In my role as Clerk of MMFB, after consultation with M&C, and with an abundance of caution, I’m cancelling our Meeting for Business that was scheduled for this Sunday, March 15. The next date to be announced.
The State of Society discussion to be held on Sunday, March 22 is postponed with a date to be announced.
Smaller gatherings such as Seekers and committee meetings can be decided case by case.
Ministry and Counsel Committee, has determined that meeting for worship will end not with our traditional handshake but with an elder rising in place and simply saying, “Good morning Friends.”
In order to be mindful of the health of the community, as we enter Meeting and end Meeting for Worship, we should greet each other verbally without physical contact.
Hospitality, involving food preparation and sharing following Meeting for Worship each week, is canceled for the next 30 days.
This allows us time to discuss and review the situation and information changes over the upcoming weeks.
Ministry and Counsel has oversight of the spiritual well being of our Meeting and as such, is grappling with this painful issue, not wanting to dampen the spiritual life and sense of community that we value. Please continue to reach out to one another, especially to those who are unable to attend Worship.
In Abiding Love and Gratitude,
Betty Ann Lee, clerk
Kevin Lee & Randy Wirth, M&C co-clerks
